HarperLloyd Recruitment is partnering with a highly respected specialist firm to find an Accounts Assistant to join their growing Brisbane CBD office.


This is a hands-on role responsible for trust accounting, accounts receivable, billing, payroll support and financial administration within a busy legal practice.


Working closely with the Senior Accountant and wider leadership team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth financial operation of the firm while maintaining strict compliance with legal industry and trust accounting requirements.


About the Role

As the Accounts Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the firm's finance function across trust accounting, billing and payroll. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing daily trust accounting transactions, reconciliations and transfers
  • Assisting with trust reporting, audits and compliance obligations
  • Coordinating end-of-month billing and invoice processing
  • Managing debtors, collections and accounts receivable activities
  • Processing payroll support functions through Xero, including leave and employee administration
  • Reconciling company credit cards and financial accounts
  • Monitoring finance and payroll inboxes and responding to enquiries
  • Supporting the Senior Accountant with reporting, projects and process improvements
  • Assisting with financial compliance, audit preparation and risk management initiatives

This is a varied role offering exposure to all aspects of legal finance and accounting within a collaborative and high-performing team environment.


About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a Legal Accounts role
  • Experience with trust accounting (highly regarded)
  • Accounts receivable and billing experience
  • Payroll processing experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience using accounting software such as Xero
